ARE THERE ANY COVID19 RESTRICTIONS WHEN ENTERING MADEIRA? For Canadians to enter Madeira no Covid19 testing is necessary. CAN I EXTEND MY STAY IN MADEIRA? Yes. If you are flying on Air Azores the flights operate twice a week. TAP Air Portugal have flights every day via Lisbon. DO I HAVE TO GO ON ALL THE WALKS? No. Participants can just relax at the hotel if they wish. HOW DIFFICULT IS THE WALKING? Madeira is mountainous but we have selected walks that are considered "easy to moderate". There is some up and down but nothing difficult. WHAT WEATHER CAN I EXPECT? The average daytime high in the Funchal region is usually about 18 - 20C in late February. There could be rain but we have been doing February and March walking holidays there for the past five years and rain has not interfered with our activities, WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO ENTER MADEIRA? Madeira is part of Portugal so you need a valid Canadian passport. The passport must have a validity of al least three months after your intended stay. WHAT INSURANCE DO I NEED? You should have travel insurance that will cover you for emergency accident or illness and also Trip Interruption Insurance in case you are forced to extend your stay due to illness. Check with your credit card to see if you are covered, Teachers' Travel sells Manulife Travel Insurance. Cost is based on your age and the dollar amount being covered. |
