Few places have been as blessed with such a rich heritage as Sicily. For thousands of years it's ownership shifted between Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Spanish and finally Italy and all contributed to the culture, cuisine and architecture. Our walks in Western Sicily explore fascinating towns, lovely nature reserves, a remote island, archaeological sites and caves dating back to prehistoric times.

One of the most memorable things about Sicily is its cuisine. The island is incredibly fertile and produces superb fruit and vegetables. Seafood abounds. You will have never tasted a mouth-watering cannoli like one fresh from a Sicilian pastry shop.

Highlights:
  • Walking in the sea-front nature reserves
  • Visiting Selununte with its ancient temples
  • Tasting Sicilian ice-cream
  • Exploring historic Erice and Segesta
  • The remote island of Levanzo

About Walkers' World Western Sicily Rambles:
This is a "two-centred" walking holiday where we stay at two different hotels during the week.
After being picked up in Palermo, we have three nights in the town of Marsala and then move north for four nights in the tiny sea-front village of Scopello. Our private bus takes us to the start of the walks and brings us back to the hotel at the end of the day. Our guided walks show you the best of spectacular countryside and fascinating towns.
