Guided Walking in Britain

South Yorkshire Dales     Malhamdale

The Yorkshire Dales are located in North-Central England not far from the Scottish border. The rugged Yorkshire Dales National Park is rich in wild-flowers and waterfalls and is excellent hiking country. We stay at lovely Malhamdale for a week of exploring this fabled region... the home of the Brontes and James Herriot. On our walks we visit the graceful ruins of Bolton Abbey; Studley Royal Estate and its water gardens.

2024 Guided walking holidays start Fridays from March - November.
Walkers stay at the same hotel for seven nights. Days start and end with a short bus ride so the walks are in the most spectacular parts of the island.  Three different guided walks are offered each day. You choose according to your fitness and ability.

High season prices start at 1109 GBP per person for one week based on double occupancy. (approximately $1940 Cdn)
Non-member associate fee 30 GBP per person.
Single rooms with no single supplement are offered but with limited availability.

Includes:
Seven nights first class accommodation with private bath
Three meals a day
Guided walking programme with a choice of three walks daily
Transportation in conjunction with the walks

Getting to Malhamdale:  The closest rail station is Skipton. From here HF Holidays run a taxi service to the hotel.

Walking: Terrain is rocky and can be wet and muddy. A choice of three guided walks is offered each day.

  • Easier walks    6 – 7.5 miles.                    up to  900 ft of ascent over a day.

When you are not walking: There is much history in the region. Step back in time at East Riddlesden Hall with its dramatic history and panoply of ghosts. Yorkshire is steeped in history and tradition with attractions like Skipton Castle, one of Britain’s best-preserved medieval castles.
