Guided Walking Holidays in
Provence, France

Accommodation:

In Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, we stay in the three star Hotel Les Nevons which is in a quiet location two blocks from the centre of the town on the edge of the sparkling Sorgue river. Rooms are large and comfortable with twin or queen-sized beds, air-conditioning, hair-dryer, satellite TV, private bathroom with tub and shower and a private balcony with sliding glass doors overlooking the Sorgue River and the pretty hotel gardens. There is a small rooftop pool. Free wifi is available. All rooms are non-smoking.

In Avignon we stay one night (the final night) at the four star Hotel Mercure Pont d'Avignon in an ideal location near the old Papal Palace and backing onto Avignon's medieval walls. Rooms are air conditioned and have TV. Bathrooms are equipped with hair-dryers.

Meals:
France is known for its food so we want our guests to experience a variety and have a real "Taste of France".  Somehow French fruit seems more flavourful and the bread flakier than that at home.  In France  cheese-making is considered an art form.  Food is important here and when you see two locals engaging in what seems to be a heated argument if you listen closely and can understand you will discover that the topic is usually food-related.

Breakfast is a buffet with fresh croissants, cereals and milk, toast, yogurt, fruit salad, eggs, home-made jams, coffee or tea and fruit juices. At Hotel Les Nevons breakfast can be taken on the outdoor patio.

Lunch (not included) is usually a picnic and we shop at a market or grocery store before heading out for the day. A usual picnic consists of a fresh baguette with cheese, cold meat, fruit and perhaps a little wine.

Dinners are three course menus at a variety of restaurants. If you are vegetarian or have food allergies please let us know in advance.

We have been doing this holiday since 1998 and tasted our way through the region, each year refining our choice of restaurants. The week’s dinner menus -- planned and coordinated to provide quality and variety include a traditional crêperie, a jazzy tapas bar, as well as more formal dining rooms.
