Legend says that the Greek God
Hercules loved a nymph called Amalfi and, when he sought the most
beautiful place in the world to immortalize her, he chose
the coast along the Bay of Naples. In Roman times, this coast
attracted senators who built lavish holiday villas many of which were buried when Vesuvius erupted
in 79AD. Over the
centuries this coast has been painted by artists, lauded by poets and extolled in song.
On our walking holiday we enjoy marvelous views,
intriguing towns, fascinating archeological sites and, of course, great
Neapolitan
food.
About Walkers' World Amalfi Coast Rambles:
We stay for seven nights at a traditional, four-star hotel at the
edge of a small village called Sant Agata located five km from the resort of Sorrento.
Views from the hotel are of blue Mediterranean and Mount
Vesuvius in the distance.
Our private bus takes us to the start of the walks and brings us
back at the end of the day. Guided walks show you the best of the
spectacular countryside. We also visit legendary towns and historic sites which
we tour with an expert guide. On days when the walking is difficult we
have a choice of two walks including one that is less strenuous.
